SPIRITUALITY
Many of us are revisiting issues of spirituality in our 70s. Whether based in Western religion, or Eastern contemplative practice, or another tradition, how is spirituality playing -- or not playing -- a role in your life? You are welcome to join the discussion regardless of your religion, and regardless of how you view spirituality. All opinions are welcomed and encouraged -- respectfully, of course. Our goal is understanding the wide variety of religious beliefs and spiritual feelings among us. In this small group we’ll each have some time to share a little about our journey (if so inclined). It should be fascinating to compare notes.
Facilitators Background
David Woodsfellow is a clinical psychologist from Atlanta. For the past 25 years, his practice has been limited exclusively to marriage counseling. David is Jewish; his wife Deborah is Christian. They are both members of a Conservative egalitarian Jewish congregation where David is a gabbai and hosts a long-standing weekly Torah study group. During his hippy years, David spent time with yoga, I Ching, Zen macrobiotics, Taoism, and Hinduism. The Woodsfellows’ first book Love Cycles, Fear Cycles discusses the essence of couples therapy.
Bryant Welch is a clinical psychologist from Sausalito, CA. Clinically, he specializes in the treatment of trauma through traditional psychotherapy, modern trauma treatment techniques and advanced Eastern contemplative practices such as mindfulness meditation. His first book State of Confusion: Political Manipulation and the Assault on the American Mind was an attempt to explain the contemporary psychological dysfunction in American politics, and a revised, updated version is being released on Amazon reunion week.
