Participant Backgrounds
Margo Seltzer AB’83, is the Herchel Smith Professor of Computer Science and the Faculty Director for the Center for Research on Computation and Society in Harvard's John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). Her research broadly focuses on computer systems and user interaction. Margo is a celebrated teacher and a beloved mentor of both women and men at Harvard.
Harry Lewis AB’68, PhD’74 is Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science in SEAS. His books include “Blown to Bits: Your Life, Liberty, and Happiness After the Digital Explosion”. He has taught computer science at Harvard since 1974. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Margo Seltzer have been among his students. Harry served as Dean of the College from 1995-2003 and later as the interim Dean of SEAS.
Jonathan Zittrain JD’95, MPA’95 is the George Bemis Professor of International Law at Harvard Law School, where he teaches cyber law courses, and at the Kennedy School of Government, He is a Professor of Computer Science at SEAS and co-founder of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. JZ’s 2008 book is titled “The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It”. During the Obama administration, he headed the FCC’s Net Neutrality Advisory Committee.
